Do you want to play a part in developing the restaurant industry in Tromsø? The Fjellheisen gondola is a landmark in Tromsø, and at the upper station you’ll find a uniquely located restaurant. We now have a vacancy as a chef at this truly amazing location!

Norwegian Travel Company, the new owner of Fjellheisen, is one of the leading tourist companies in Norway. Our ambition is to set the standard for experience-based tourism in our country. First on our agenda for Fjellheisen is to change the operation and add new concepts in the current building. We are also working on building a brand new restaurant on top of the mountain, and we are now looking for a chef who wants to take part in this endeavor.

Chef – What is the job about?

We are going to develop our current concept offering "home-made" high quality local food. As our new chef, you will be involved in developing and influencing the concept further. We also want you to contribute as a consultant when we start developing and building the new kitchen and new restaurant.

Your daily responsibility is to provide our guests with a superb dining experience. You will become part of a team that wants development and looks forward to serving good food. As a chef, you will be part of a rotation schedule and you’ll work both early and late shifts.

Who are you

You have a desire to help develop something completely new in the restaurant industry in Tromsø. You have industry experience and are a certified/trained chef. If you have long and relevant experience, this can compensate for lack of education. Providing good customer satisfaction and service is something that motivates you, and you thrive in the company of happy and skilled colleagues.

At the moment we are in the early stages of planning and not entirely sure about what the new restaurant concept will be; what it should be called, or what kind of food and concepts we should serve our guests. This is something that motivates you, and you can’t wait to dive into it all and give us your input.

Experience

• You have experience from the restaurant industry

• You are a certified/trained chef (corresponding to a Norwegian “fagbrev”)

• You enjoy cooking and have experience working in a kitchen

About us

We aspire to provide all of our guests with exciting and genuine experiences of Norway across all our destinations, either it’s dog sledding, Northern Lights or snowmobiling, or our gondola in Romsdalen and the picturesque accommodation and activities in Lofoten.

The Fjellheisen gondola is Northern Norway’s most popular tourist destination. From the large outdoor terrace, you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of Tromsø and the virtually endless sight of islands, fjords, mountains and the open sea. In summer, the panorama deck at the upper station provides excellent opportunities of seeing the Midnight Sun, while in winter it’s an ideal place for hunting the magical Northern Lights. The restaurant Fjellstua Cafe was built in 1992. We are working on building a brand new restaurant on top of the mountain, but until then our goal is to further develop our current menu and concept..
