General Manager Camp Tamok

Norwegian Travel Company is one of the leading tourism companies in the country. Our ambition is to set the standard for experience-based tourism in Norway and we are now looking for a person who can join us on that journey. We are searching for a general manager in Camp Tamok, located in Tamok valley, close to Skibotn in Northern Norway, who will be responsible for, have control over, and support our various operations. We have in Tamok a unique ice hotel, other wilderness accommodation options and various safari activities, eg snowmobile, husky and reindeer safaris.

General manager - What is the job about?

You have the responsibility for budget as well operational results for our destination in Camp Tamok. You will lead and develop the destination and services together with our skilled employees and work as a natural contact to our partners as well as towards the concern. In the concern, you will receive help from the organization within finance, sales, administration and HR. As the General Manager of the camp, you will be central in how we develop our products within tourism in Trommsø.

The work will be within the operational, but also strategic. An important task will be to see opportunities and extract synergies across the concern companies. You will also work on mapping and developing procedures and routines for efficient operation and implementation.

You are central to our organization and will be a key person for our further development and growth. It places high demands on your business and personal qualities.

Who are you?

First and foremost, you have a very good understanding and knowledge of operations and management. You also have in-depth knowledge of the industry and know how it works. Your background is probably from tourism, but perhaps also from management, hotels or events.

You see how the various components of operations work together, and always look for opportunities to do things efficiently and rationally. It is clear, that you can pick things apart, analyze, and put them together in a better way than before.

You have a good basic business understanding, a feel for development, and understand the connections between good logistics and profitability. It is also natural for you to work with budgets, business plans and business development.

You will be often in a dialogue with the concern, employees, partners and people from all over the world, therefore your ability to understand and be understood and your good interpersonal skills are becoming increasingly important.


• You have longer experience in tourism (management, sales or operational)

• You have a very good operational situation understanding

• You have extensive and in-depth experience in either leading, organizing or coordinating operational work

• Relevant education (relevant operational experience can compensate for lack of education)

• Good language skills, oral and written, in Norwegian and English
